The Auditor-General's Office (AGO) is Singapore's independent national auditor, responsible for auditing and reporting on the use of public resources. Its mission is to ensure the economic, efficient, and effective use of public funds, enhancing accountability and financial governance. The Auditor-General, currently Goh Soon Poh, is appointed by the President and operates independently, as protected by the Constitution. AGO conducts comprehensive audits of government departments, statutory boards, and other public bodies. It identifies system weaknesses and instances of inefficiency in public fund usage. The office reports its findings through the Annual Report of the Auditor-General, which is shared with the President, Parliament, and the public. AGO also collaborates with the Public Accounts Committee to clarify audit findings and improve governance. Its work is guided by international auditing standards, emphasizing professionalism and integrity in all processes.
